The Opportunity:

As Sr Automation Engineer you will provide technical leadership on major projects such as tech transfers and the introduction of new technologies in manufacturing operations as well as provide supplemental support of Manufacturing operations to accelerate the speed of tech transfers. You will develop innovative partnerships to identify and refine tools and business processes that will greatly impact the design and implementation of changes to the Distributed & Mfg Control System (DCS - Siemens / MCS Honeywell). Your efforts should significantly improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the delivery of new and existing medicines that are currently manufactured in both facilities.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the development and review of automation-related policies, procedures, and SOPs.

  • Coordinate the resolution of automation system issues including cause analysis, issue resolution, unplanned event assessments, CAPAs, and investigations.

  • Work with Manufacturing, Quality, and Technology departments to lead technical transfers, corrective actions, continuous improvement changes, and support capital projects.

  • Ensure alignment and compliance with Genentech policies, procedures, and directives.

  • Be the SME and Mentor others in configuration standards, and business processes of all applicable DCS / MCS platforms.

  • Participate in the on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for the CCP1 DCS and CCP2 MCS.

Who you are:

  • BS or MS Degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Science, or combination of equivalent training and experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, implementation and/or support of Instrumentation and control systems, preferably in the Bio-Pharmaceutical, Pharmaceutical, food or other batch processing industries.

  • Experience with distributed control systems, software development methodologies and automated system life cycle support in a regulated industry.

  • You have experience with software development methodologies and automated systems life cycle support in a regulated industry.

  • MUST have extensive GMP, S88, S95, and GAMP, particularly as they relate to the operation, validation, and maintenance of controlled systems.

  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering techniques and principles and the ability to apply that knowledge as required.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $95,000 min and $165,000 max of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
